The Temple of Man
Aerial view of the Temple of Man in Thebes
After visiting Giza, Gurdjieff traveled from lower Egypt to upper Egypt, some five hundred miles south, to Thebes, modern day Luxor, with its amazing temples—The Temple of Man and the Temple complex of Karnak. Directly across from Thebes, on the east bank of the Nile, are the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. Gurdjieff reports living in a tomb with Professor Skridlov for three weeks.
